A bit about me...

Hey, I'm Michael.

I am a therapist licensed to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey. I have been practicing for 9+ years and have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, a substance use treatment center, and a community mental health clinic. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College. I have also completed a two-year Post-Graduate Degree in Couples Therapy from the Training Institute of Mental Health, studying the various aspects of close personal relationships and strategies for improving them.

My goal as a therapist is to assist people in achieving greater self-understanding while supporting them to make necessary changes in their lives leading to personal growth and greater fulfillment.

I have a warm, active, practical, and direct approach to therapy and integrate strategies from Psychodynamic therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Interpersonal Therapy. Most importantly, my approach creates a judgment free environment that helps you gain a greater understanding of your relationship to yourself and the people/things around you, while helping you explore needed changes.

I believe effective therapy offers the opportunity for self-awareness, growth, and change. That process starts by getting to know and understand you, as every person is unique in their strengths and their challenges. Therapy also offers the chance to help you understand and make meaning of your experiences and behavioral patterns and develop new skills and tools to better address your challenges.

My recent professional experience has been working with individuals to address the symptoms and challenges that arise through life transitions such as difficulties in dating and relationships, breakups and forming new relationships, experiencing betrayal and infidelity, difficulty in the workplace or with professional relationships, career stagnation, conflicted family relationships, separation and loss, and overcoming experiences of trauma.
